Anne-Sylvie Andre-Mayer is a full professor in economic geology at the Université de Lorraine, Nancy, France. Deputy director of the GeoRessources laboratory, her research deals with the connection between metal endowment (Au, U, Rare metals,…) and the formation and reworking of the continental crust, focusing on Proterozoic times.
She is involved in international projects dealing with mineral exploration (WAXI, SAXI, NEXT). Her teaching at the ENSG (Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Géologie) is dedicated to mineral systems and exploration tools. She is the leader of the EUROCORE KIC Raw materials project that focuses on expertise and skill transfer to field geologists regarding spectroscopic devices handling and large geochemical and structural dataset management, especially using drill cores.

FELIX LEE

Felix Lee is a Director and Principal Consultant of CSA Global, an international mining and geological consultancy. Before joining CSA, Felix worked for ACA Howe International Limited in Toronto from 1992-2016, where he became President and co-owner in 2003. Over the course of a distinguished career in the exploration business, he has worked on grass-roots to advanced-stage exploration projects covering a wide variety of commodity and deposit types in Canada, Africa, Asia and South America.
Felix is a registered member of both the Association of Professional Geoscientists of Ontario and the Society of Economic Geologists. He graduated with a B.Sc. in geology in 1986 from McMaster University and obtained an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management in 2005. Felix joined the PDAC Board of Directors in 2007. In March 2019, he is slated to become 37th President of the PDAC.

Nick Oliver has a broad academic and consulting experience that have had very positive cultural and geological associations with Nordic Countries, particularly Finland, since 1995.
Nick Oliver ran several collaborative research, training, and graduate student programs with the GTK in the 1998-2005 period, when he was Director of the Economic Geology Research Unit at James Cook University, Queensland, Australia. Since then, Nick Oliver has been consulting and training around the world in structure + geochemistry + geophysics projects, including Nordic consultancies (2013-2018) and delivery of two very successful short courses in Helsinki and Luleå in 2017.

EVI PETAVRATZI

Dr Evi Petavratzi is a Senior Mineral Commodity Geologist at the British Geological Survey (BGS), with over 13 years of working experience in industry, academia and the public sector. At BGS, her research is in the field of security of supply and the circular economy, with a focus on decarbonisation and resource management. She has been involved in several multidisciplinary projects in the areas of critical raw materials, material flow analysis and the enhancement of the European knowledge base for raw materials.
She holds a PhD in Mining Engineering and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Waste Management and a member of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3). In the past, she has worked in the areas of resource efficiency, sustainability and industrial ecology.

ANDRÉ VAN WAGENINGEN

André van Wageningen is currently the Engineering Manager of the 1040m deep shaft Project in Kittilä. The shaft project will help the mine to increase production by 25%. He has 17 years of international experience living and working in Canada, Sweden and now Finland. Throughout his career he has had a focus on technology and a keen interest for optimization.
Besides his role in the shaft project he is actively involved in automation and technology projects in Kittilä. André has an MSc in Mining Engineering from Delft University of Technology and an MBA from Edinburgh Business School. When not working he can be found enjoying the outdoor activities Lapland has to offer.

Jason Tolland (BA Hons [Economics], Queen’s University, (1990); LLB, University of British Columbia, 1995) was called to the bar of British Columbia in 1996. He joined the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade in 1998 following work as a management consultant in the United Kingdom and as a labour and employment lawyer in British Columbia.
In Ottawa, he has worked principally in trade and economic law and policy. He has served as policy officer for culture and intellectual property trade policy and in the Government of Canada’s Trade Law Bureau as counsel, deputy director and, most recently, as executive director.
Overseas, he has served in Buenos Aires (second secretary, economic affairs), Washington, D.C., (counsellor, energy, environment and fisheries) and Berlin (minister-counsellor, commercial-economic).

Dr Nicole Adshead-Bell is a geologist with over two decades of capital markets and minerals sector experience. From 2003 Nicole focused on evaluating and advising mining sector companies, including establishing Cupel Advisory Corp. to concentrate on value creation and realization in the mineral industry via direct investing and investment fund/corporate advisory roles. She was previously Director of Mining Research at Sun Valley Gold LLC (an SEC registered precious metals fund), Managing Director Investment Banking at Haywood Securities, a sell-side analyst at Dundee Securities and a buy-side analyst at Sun Valley Gold. Earlier in her career she worked as a geologist for exploration, development and mining companies in Australia, Papua New Guinea and Canada.
Nicole has ten years cumulative experience as an independent director for TSX-, NYSE-, AIM- and ASX-listed companies. Recent directorships include Dalradian Resources, which was acquired by Orion Mine Finance in Q3-2018, and Pretium Resources. She was an independent director of Beadell Resources, transitioning to CEO and Managing Director in July 2018. It was announced in September 2018 that Beadell was subject to a friendly acquisition by Great Panther Silver. Nicole’s diverse background in capital markets, the minerals industry and as an executive and independent director of public companies has provided broad insight into the common traits of successful and unsuccessful companies of all sizes.

Neil Adshead rejoined Sprott in early 2019 as a Portfolio Manager following an 21-month sabbatical working on various consultancy roles for investment funds and junior mining companies. During his first term with Sprott, Neil was employed as an ‘Investment Strategist’, assisting several business units, for five years from 2012. Prior to joining Sprott he was a Vancouver-based senior mining analyst at Passport Capital, a global investment firm with headquarters in San Francisco, for over seven years from 2004. Neil’s spent ten years in exploration, mine geology and corporate roles for Placer Dome subsidiaries in Canada, Australia and Papua New Guinea before moving across to the buy-side.
In 1995 he received a PhD in Economic Geology from James Cook University of North Queensland, Australia. Before relocating to Australia, Neil worked as a mud logger and data engineer on North Sea oil rigs for a Schlumberger subsidiary after receiving a First Class Honours degree in Earth Sciences from Birmingham University. Over the past 25 years, Neil has built an extensive global network in both the mining and investment sectors.

Dale Mah is a professional geologist with 20 years of experience in the mining industry. He has held senior positions in mineral exploration, investment research and project evaluation throughout his career, with particular emphasis in capital markets, investment banking, equity research, precious and base metals project management and valuation, financial modeling, mine economics, and reserve and resource estimation.
Dale’s early career between 1996 and 2009 focused on the exploration for and discovery of mineral deposits in Canada for Cominco, BHP Billiton and other companies. He moved into more senior technical and management roles from 2006 to 2010 with Tahera Diamond Corp and Olivut Resources, then worked as a mining analyst with Mackie Research Capital and Dundee Capital Markets, before joining a private equity group, Quintana Resources Capital, as VP Geology in 2014. In his current role as VP Corporate Development with Endeavour Silver, Dale’s primary focus is deal origination, technical due diligence, project valuation and negotiating M&A opportunities.

Joe Mazumdar is an Economic Geologist/Analyst at Exploration Insights. Prior to that he was a senior mining analyst at Haywood Securities, then Canaccord Genuity. His work experience includes Director of Strategic planning, Corporate Development at Newmont and senior market analyst/trader at Phelps Dodge. Mazumdar also worked in technical roles for IAMGOLD in Ecuador, North Minerals in Argentina/Chile and Peru, RTZ Mining and Exploration in Argentina, Chile, Peru and Ecuador and MIM Exploration and Mining in Queensland, Australia, among others.
Mazumdar has a Bachelor of Science in geology from the University of Alberta, a Master of Science in Geology and Mining from James Cook University and a Master of Science in Mineral Economics from the Colorado School of Mines.

Mark Bennett was the founding Managing Director and CEO of Sirius Resources, overseeing its growth from a junior explorer until its $1.8 billion takeover by IGO. During this time he led Sirius through equity financing, project debt financing, permitting and development in record time. He is now the Managing Director and CEO of S2 Resources, having demerged it from Sirius prior to its takeover. Mark is the only individual to have been awarded two AMEC Prospector of the Year awards, for his discoveries which include the Thunderbox gold mine, the Waterloo nickel mine, and the Nova-Bollinger nickel-copper mine.
He holds BSc and PhD degrees in geology, is a Fellow of the Geological Society of London and the Australian Institute of Geologists, a Member of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy and the Australian Institute of Company Directors, and is also a Director of Todd River Resources, which is 19.99% owned by S2. Although a geologist, Mark also has a very successful track record in financing exploration and development, having raised over $800 million with Sirius and S2, and is highly experienced in capital markets and corporate strategy.

Nick Cook is a geologist with 30 years experience since enrolling in geology at the University of Otago. During his geological career he has been involved in lecturing geology and mineral exploration. He has worked in Finland for Mawson Resources since 2013, where the excitement of bonanza grade gold results from a previously little-explored part of Lapland created the impetus for the present project. Nick manages a Finnish team of geoscientists and technical staff at Mawson who have developed the Rajapalot-Rompas project into a major exploration program. A maiden gold-cobalt resource published in 2018 has excellent exploration target upside trending towards a substantial scale for Fennoscandia.

Pia Vesterbacka is director at department of environmental radiation surveillance and emergency preparedness in Finland. She deals with nation-wide environmental monitoring, environmental monitoring in the vicinities of NPP and mines, baseline studies of mines, regulating NORMs in mines and mine processes and emergency preparedness focusing on radiation protection. Also emergency preparedness and protective actions in radiological emergency are important part her work.

Lyal Harris is an Australian-Canadian geoscientist who specializes in the enhancement and interpretation of gravity, aeromagnetic and seismic tomographic data integrated with field studies for regional structural and tectonic syntheses applied to mineral exploration targeting.
He is especially interested in the link between deep crustal and upper mantle structures and mineral deposits. Projects with exploration companies and geological surveys and university research include fieldwork and structural interpretation of geophysical data in Australia, Canada, France, Indonesia, India, and the USA, plus geophysics-only studies in N Québec, the Canadian arctic, New Guinea, western USA, North Africa-Middle East, W Europe, Japan, South America and the Himalayas-Tibetan Plateau. Research on non-plate tectonic models for the Archaean Earth included comparative studies of Venus. He is a member of the Australian Institute of Geoscientists and the Ordre des géologues du Québec and a fellow of the Society of Economic Geologists, adjunct professor at Laval University and sessional lecturer at UQAC.

Dr. Sara Salehi has over 9 years of working experience particularly in the domain of remote sensing applied for earth science applications. She has been part of GEUS’s research team since 2015. She has worked on joint projects with recognized experts in this field, focusing on geological remote sensing and a wide range of geotechnologies. This includes scientists from university of Alberta, university of Twente (ITC), university of Hull, the German Aerospace Center (DLR), the Helmholtz Institute for Resource Technology (HIF), and the GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ).
During this period, a great deal of her work has been fixated on improving the effectiveness of field, airborne and spaceborne remote sensing imagery analysis for large-scale mapping of Arctic resources. To achieve this goal she has deployed various methodologies and techniques for data acquisition, processing, integration and interpretation, which her entire PhD has been based on.
Furthermore, as part of her experience at GEUS, she got the chance to expand her knowledge and experience in using InSAR data for disaster management purposes in yet another environment, after her Master studies back in 2010.

As Head of Unit, Pasi Heino has headed the Ore and Industrial Minerals unit since 2018. Pasi has over ten years’ experience in geology related positions, working with precious metals, base metals and industrial minerals.
Team leading is highly pointed out in his everyday working. Strong base about large scale open pit mining from Siilinjärvi apatite mine 2010-2018 as a chief mine geologist. In his earlier career he has worked as a researcher in GTK 2009-2010 as well as Finn Nickel’s mining project in Outokumpu 2007-2009. He is a Competent Person according to the AusIMM.

Tommi Lehtilä is currently working as the Head of Section responsible for Boliden’s exploration in Northern Finland and Sodankylä area in particular. Anna Utsi has a Master of Science in environmental engineering from Luleå University of Technology. She has been working with public affairs and strategic planning for the steel and metals industry in different positions for more than 15 years. She has been working for the Swedish and the European steel federations, mainly with environmental issues, in Stockholm and in Brussels and has been Head of Business development and research support at an industry owned metallurgical research institute Swerea MEFOS, in Luleå.
Before joining Talga Graphene she was Program Director of the national strategic innovation program for the Swedish mining and metal producing industry, SIP STRIM.

James Withall joined Rupert Resources as Chief Executive Officer in 2017 and has over 20 years’ experience in mining. He was, prior to joining the Company a Managing Partner and Fund Manager at Baker Steel Capital Managers, where he worked from 2003. He was the lead manager of the award winning Baker Steel Global Funds Precious Metals Fund that was voted the top performing Gold and Precious Metals Equities Fund by Thomson Reuter Lipper Fund Awards, over 3 years in 2016 and, 3 and 5 years in 2017, throughout Europe. Mr. Withall previously worked for more than seven years as a geologist, working in Western Australia for a number of gold mining companies in exploration, project and mine geologist roles, before joining the development team of the Xstrata Windimurra vanadium project. Tobias E. Bauer is Associate Professor in Ore Geology at Luleå University of Technology, Sweden. His research includes structural controls on ore deposits and the regional structural and tectonic evolution of mineralized belts. In addition, he is active in the field of 3-D and 4-D modeling applied to mineral belts, mineral deposits, and related structures.
He received a M.Sc. degree in geology from Ludwig-Maximilian University of Munich, Germany, in 2008 and a Ph.D. degree in ore geology from Luleå University of Technology, Sweden, in 2013.

She has graduated from the University of Turku with a MSc in Geology and Mineralogy and is currently completing her MSc degree in business studies in the University of Oulu. She has worked for over 15 years in the mining industry and has an extensive experience in both, exploration and mining.

Emma Härdmark is director of communications at Svemin, the Swedish Association of Mines, Mineral and Metal Producers. She holds a MSc in bed rock geology from Uppsala University. She is a former science and news reporter at the major newspapers in Sweden.
Prior to her current position she acted as Communications Officer at the Geological Survey of Sweden, working with the Meeting Points Mining project in Botswana, Zimbabwe and South Africa.

Åsa Allan is the Site Manager for Kaunis Iron at the iron ore mine in Kaunisvaara, Pajala, and northern Sweden.
She holds a MSc degree in geology and mineralogy from the Åbo Academy University in Finland (2001) and a PhD in Ore Geology from Luleå University of Technology (2007), where her research focussed on the genetic relationship between magnetite and copper-gold ores. Thereafter, Åsa has worked as a consultant and office manager, mine planning manager and between 2015 and 2017 as the municipal manager of the municipality of Pajala. Since November 2017, she is the site manager for Kaunis Iron.

Michael Hudson, B.Sc. (Hons 1st) GDipAppFin, FAusIMM, MSEG, MAIG, is an explorationist, geologist and entrepreneur. He started his career in 1990 working in Broken Hill as an underground geologist and then explored for 10 years in Australia, Peru and Pakistan. Since then and over the last 20 years he has developed and financed mineral exploration properties on four continents. In 2004 he founded Mawson Resources Ltd (TSX:MAW), a gold-cobalt project development exploration company based in Ylitornio in Finland as Chairman & CEO.
Mr. Hudson is a founder and director of Hannan Metals Ltd (TSXv:HAN), a copper/zinc exploration company in Peru and Ireland, a founder and director of Leading Edge Material Ltd (TSXv:LEM, Nasdaq First North: LEMSE), a battery raw material supply company in Sweden and Romania and a director of Hydro66 Holdings Corp. (CSE:SIX), Europe’s largest HPC datacentre based in Sweden.

Sabina Strmic Palinkas is an associate professor in Ore geology/Mineral resources at UiT the Arctic University of Norway. After receiving her PhD degree in Ore deposit geology from the University of Zagreb, Croatia, in 2009, she was working as a research fellow at the University of Auckland, New Zealand, and as an assistant professor at the University of Zagreb. In fall 2015 she joined University of Tromsø, where her main goal is to contribute to establishment of an internationally recognized research programs in ore geology/mineral resources.
Her area of expertise comprises aqueous and high-temperature geochemistry, geochemical/thermodynamic modeling, lithogeochemistry and applications of organic geochemistry and stable isotope systematics to ore-forming and environmental processes. During the past 15 years, she has been involved in studies of a wide spectrum of ore deposits, including epithermal, Carlin-type, hydrothermal-metasomatic, skarn, SEDEX, MVT and pegmatite deposits, as well as in several environmental studies.

Henrik Schiellerup holds a position as Director for Geological Resources and Environment, at the Geological Survey of Norway (NGU).
He has a Ph.D. in igneous petrology/resource geology from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology and an M.Sc. in igneous petrology from the University of Aarhus in Denmark.
He also spent two years with the Nordic Volcanological Institute in Reykjavik, Iceland. He was employed as a researcher at the Geological Survey of Norway in 2001 and has worked at NGU since then.

Lena Söderberg is Director General of SGU – the Geological Survey of Sweden – since January 2014.
Lena, who has an MSc. in Forestry, has earlier been the CEO of the Swedish Water and Wastewater Association since 2009. SGU is responsible for issues relating to rock, soil and groundwater, including the handling of minerals. SGU is also the Agency with particular responsibility for the environmental quality objective Good-quality Groundwater, which includes the objective of reducing the use of natural gas. The Agency also has the task of creating conditions conducive to a sustainable use of the country’s mineral resources and promoting sustainable growth and enterprise within the mining and mineral sector.

James Passmore is a Spatial Data Infrastructures specialist at the British Geological Survey where his role involves research into emerging technologies for the sharing of geospatial data.
He is Co-chair of the OneGeology Technical Implementation Group, active on the Commission for the management and application of Geoscience Information (CGI) EarthResourceML Working Group, the CGI Geoscience Terminology Working Group, and the OGC-CGI GeoSciML Standards Working Group. He has been involved in several EU funded projects for the exchange of minerals data, such as Minerals4EU, EURare, and MICA. He is currently involved in GeoERA Mintell.
He has worked in Papua New Guinea on a World Bank sponsored Mining Sector Institutional Strengthening Technical Assistance project, and in Afghanistan on a ’Institutional strengthening of the Afghan Geological Survey with emphasis on the minerals sector’. He holds a MSc in Mineral Exploration, and another in Geographical Information Systems.

Nolwenn Coint. I am a geologist at the Geological Survey of Norway (NGU). I have a Ph.D. in igneous petrology from Texas Tech University, USA and a M.Sc. in Marine Geosciences from the Université de Bretagne Occidentale, France.
My areas of expertise include field work, mapping, igneous petrology, geochemistry, trace elements in minerals, U-Pb geochronology, geochemical /thermodynamic modeling of magmatic systems and metamorphic petrology. The projects I am involved in at the moment consist of studying REE mineralizations associated with alkaline and carbonatite complexes, apatite deposits of magmatic origin and Ni-mineralizations in mafic and ultramafic rocks.

Dr. Petri Peltonen (Ph.D., University of Turku / University of Toronto) has over 25 years of experience in geoscientific research, exploration and mining. After completing his Ph.D. on magmatic Ni-Cu-PGE sulfide deposits Petri has worked on a variety of commodities and deposit types including volcanic-hosted massive sulfides (VMS), iron ore, Cu-porphyry deposits, technology metals, gold and diamonds. Before joining FireFox Gold Corp. he was engaged as Exploration Manager Europe for First Quantum Minerals Ltd., being responsible for regional and near-mine exploration activities in Finland, Sweden, Turkey, and Spain.
Petri is an accreted Chartered Professional of Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM), European Geologist (EurGeol), Qualified Person (QP) and SEG Fellow. He also serves as Professor of Practice of Economic Geology at University of Helsinki.

During his career he has worked on projects in several different geological settings. His focus area is within early to advanced stage exploration projects within the Nordic countries of Finland, Sweden and Norway.

As Director General, Mika Nykänen has headed the Geological Survey of Finland since February 2015. Before joining GTK, he worked in the metal sector holding positions as Managing Director for the Association of Finnish Steel and Metal Producers, and as Director for the Federation of Finnish Technology Industries (Industrial Policy). He is a member of the Board of the EU Commission Joint Research Centre (JRC). Nykänen has held numerous positions of trust in academic, societal and business life in Finland and international organizations. He gained his M.Sc. in 1996 from the University of Tampere.

Dr. Michael Hitch P.Eng, P.Geo is a Professor of Mining at the Tallinn University of Technology (TalTech) in Estonia. Professor Hitch has a rich geological and engineering background from 23 years of industrial practice spanning 190 countries and resulted in the development of six mining operations. Laura S. Lauri is a geologist with 20+ years’ experience working in academia, government and industry. An igneous petrologist with a M.Sc. degree in 1999 and a Ph.D. degree in 2004 from the University of Helsinki, Finland, she has worked with various subjects including crustal evolution of Fennoscandia, uranium geology, mining regional collaboration and, for the past year, iron oxide-apatite ores. She currently works as a specialist in the Exploration department of LKAB in Kiruna, Sweden.

Matthew Rovardi has experience working in Africa, Australia, China and the Americas on a wide range of projects at every stage of exploration through to mining, having followed a career in the gold industry for the past 17 years. He has been working with Kinross Gold Corporation for the past 7 years, during which he has held roles working on and managing exploration projects primarily in South America and West Africa, and more recently in his current role as Exploration Manager Europe for Kinross.

James Cleverley is the UK-based Global Product Manager at ASX-listed Imdex Limited, a leading METS company providing technology for real-time sub-surface intelligence in the minerals industry under its REFLEX and AMC brands. James completed his PhD in hydrothermal geochemistry at the University of Leeds in 2002 before moving to Australia as a postdoc at JCU in the Predictive Mineral Discovery CRC. Following this he joined CSIRO in Computational Geoscience and X-Ray Characterisation, later involved in the Deep Exploration Technologies CRC.
James joined Imdex in 2014 where he has learnt much about the process of commercialisation of technology and the challenges of introducing new disruptive technology products to market. Experience in academia, applied research and business, and being exposed to the challenges of the mineral industry in a range of commodities has been an amazing experience but may have led to a few grey hairs.

Eric Jensen is the General Manager of Exploration for EMX Royalty Corp, a company that specializes in entrepreneurial approaches to metals exploration and the generation of new exploration opportunities around the world. EMX is also a leading explorer in Sweden and Norway, having brought seven industry partners to co-invest in Scandinavian exploration. Petri Peltonen is Under-Secretary of State at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment (MEAE). In this capacity he oversees the policy development and implementation in the sectors of economic growth, enterprise and innovation as well as foreign direct investments. Prior to taking his current position in 2016, Petri Peltonen was Director General of the Enterprise and Innovation Department at MEAE and the Technology Department at the Ministry of Trade and Industry. From 1996 to 2006, he worked at the Finnish Funding Agency for Innovation (Tekes), most recently as Executive Director and member of the management team. From 1987 until 1996, he held several technology development positions at the European Space Agency (ESA) in the Netherlands and in electronics industry in Finland.
Within his duties, Petri Peltonen takes part in several national and European functions such as the boards of the Business Finland organisation and the Nordic Investment Bank. He is also acts as the European Commission’s SME Envoy for Finland. Petri Peltonen (b. 1962) has M.Sc. and Lic.Tech. degrees from Tampere University of Technology. He is an invited member of the Finnish Academy of Technical Sciences.
