The Finnish Association of Mining and Metallurgical Engineers (Vuorimiesyhdistys-Bergsmannaföreningen r.y.) – Building a sustainable future responsibly together. The Finnish Association of Mining and Metallurgical Engineers (Vuorimiesyhdistys-Bergsmannaföreningen r.y.) was founded in 1943 and has grown to over 2400 members, who represent top expertise in geology, mining, excavation, beneficiation, processing, materials science, and metallurgical industries. We promote our members’ professional skills and networking through trainings, engaging seminars, and enjoyable events.

Our members join one or more sections named according to their area of expertise and professional interests. Our members primarily work in technical, marketing, administrative, and managerial roles, as well as in research institutes and universities. In addition to regular members, our association includes young members who are studying the field at universities or higher education institutions. The activities of our sections represent the entire value chain of the mining and metallurgical industry. The Finnish Association of Mining and Metallurgical Engineers organizes dozens of events annually, the most significant of which is “Vuorimiespäivät”. This event consists of our annual meeting along with seminar presentations, personal encounters and anniversary celebrations.

Lapin Lehtikustannus Oy is a company which publishes regional newspapers Sompio, Inarilainen and Saariselän Sanomat in several languages.Our special issue is SompioMining. (SompioMining 2019)

Lapin Lehtikustannus Oy is also an advertising agency and a tape company in Sodankylä and Ivalo, called Lapin Mainoslinja. We carry out tapes on vehicles, windows and light advertisements, make large-format prints, billboards, banners, roll-ups, business cards and various brochures and publications.

Company headquarters is situated in the heart of Finnish Lapland, Sodankylä. Our organizational team is spread through northern Finland and all our newspapers are established local products with a strong heritage and a position tightly knit to our community through its members and our competent editorial staff.
